What is Drive-In Classics?

Drive-In Classics is a national, 24 hour, English-language digital channel owned and operated by CHUM Ltd. Drive-In Classics was launched September 7, 2001 at 9pm ET. Since the first drive-in theatre opened in 1933 in Camden, New Jersey, drive-ins have been a part of North American pop-culture and a rite of summer for many hormone-driven teenagers. Worried about the reputation of drive-ins as passion pits, most major Hollywood studios did not book their pictures there. This resulted in a whole genre of flicks: blaxploitation, spaghetti westerns, car chase movies, creature features and gangster flicks. Drive-in Classics is all about these movies.
